just 15 minutes from the farm, this is a great place to go apple picking and also pick up a fresh pie, cider donuts (YUM), apple cider, and it has gorgeous views and is close to the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry crossing if you are interested in touring the Fort that was captured by the patriots and was the first offensive victory of the Revolutionary war.

This is not Pizza, it's better!! Local ingredients, open hearth baked, so goood. check their open hours. And I don't usually rave about salad, but their salad is really good!

Rent a party boat for a cruise around lake dunmore! weekday rentals are easier to get, they do not reserve boats, it is first come first serve, they recommend getting a boat early in the morning if on a weekend and if you are born prior to 1974 no boat safety course is required to pilot a boat.

Outdoor activities

This is a great cross country ski center owned and run by Middlebury college, open to the public to rent equipment and ski their beautiful trails (small trail fee). I used to work here many years ago, if you are looking for an outdoor adventure in the winter, this is a great place for it!
if you want to get a mountain top view, but aren't up for climbing one of the big ones, snake mountain is a perfect choice. it's a quick 30minute hike, easy to moderate, it's fairly close-by, and it gives a great bang for the buck.

Bring a picnic lunch or snacks. Mostly groomed trails here for both skate skiing and in-line - This ski center is the host of the eastern NCAA championships every year in mid February. They also have snow making!

I’m not a downhill skier, but this is a nice , smaller facility owned and run by Middlebury college, also used as the training facility for Middlebury college alpine ski team.

What to pack

bring comfortable clothes

Vermont is very casual. if you don't want to stand out as a tourist, dress casually to casual dress. *interesting fact* in a study done on time spent on personal care and beauty, Vermont came in dead last... maybe it's because we are surrounded by beauty... ALSO, even in warm weather, bring a warm sweater, light jacket- evenings can sometimes be unseasonably cool.
