SO MUCH FUN!!! Do this! Then a fun round of mini golf then go back across the bridge for an early dinner at the Waterfront Depot before heading home to walk the beach! Tips: west a beanie (or you’ll have a scalp full of sand; don’t wear chapstick; don’t laugh or “woohoo”. If you can, take the 1 hr ride. This is a blast! Don’t forget to tip your driver.

About 15-20 minutes from the house this is a short but steep hike through the beautiful forested areas West of the 101 which opens up after what feels like a little underground trail (hence the hobbit name) into a vast sandy beach. Parking in the sides of the road is limited so go early or late or off season to avoid crowds for safe highway parking. We went mid-day in March it was perfect!!

Never disappointed when we visit this area. 5 minutes from the house. Go at low tide. Turn right just past Ona’s and drive to the end of the street. Park, walk down the steps and do a little navigating through the gravel and logs onto some spectacular tide pools. Certain to be able to touch the anemones & watch them close, pet a sea start, catch lil shrimp or fish and always catch a glimpse of the tiny crabs. Look for giant agates and other stones during the more violent parts of the year in Dec- Feb. That’s when the most treasure is found from all of the storms and exceptionally high “king tides”.
