Nestled in arguably Mount Pleasant's quaintest residential block, this neighborhood gem dials-down the pace to focus on romantic atmosphere and delicious Lowcountry cuisine. It never skimps and always impresses. After dinner, enjoy a quiet cocktail in the adjacent pub, or a stroll to eye classic local architecture. One of my favorite places in all of Charleston.

The Civil War started right here in 1861, when Confederate artillery fired on this Union garrison. These were the first shots of the war, and continued all day, watched by many civilians in a celebratory spirit. The fort had been cut off from its supply line and surrendered the next day.
