Robb and Nicola Merchant opened their vineyard around ten years ago and since then have developed an amazing range of award-winning Welsh wines. The Cellar is open at weekends for tasting tours and it is easy to settle in! Don't miss the pinot noir - it is incredible.

Sightseeing

Real fairytale castle with four towers, a drawbriedge and a moat. Just fifteen minutes walk from the Cart House, this is a really interesting spot for a picnic or just to take in the view.

Llanthony Priory is a splendid ruined monastery in an unrivalled setting in the heart of the Black Mountains. Go there to walk, drink (there is a pub in the ruins), or hang out with a picnic. A truly beautiful place and a real highlight.

Iconic local mountain that provides the backdrop to sunset from the Cart House. Legend has it that the end of the hill was struck off by a thunderbolt on the day of the crucifixion. Worth a walk up whatever - the views are amazing.
