Snowmobiling

The Flattops easily hold their own against the heavyweights of the snowmobiling world. In fact, it's the very uniqueness of the Flattops that makes it such a great place to explore from the seat of a snowmobile. And, contrary to what the name might suggest, there are plenty of places to hillclimb, bust powder and boondock. Located in Yampa, CO in the Routt National Forest Flat Tops at. Feel free to contact Amber about snowmobiling information as she is a rider herself to these sites!

A Scenic Place to snowshoe, walk dogs, and in Summer (hike & Fish)

Check out Forest Service Road 900 which leads to Yamcolo Reservoir. Drive to Main Street, when you are looking at Montgomery's Grocery on Main Street, you will see a sign that points towards Yamcolo Reservoir. Drive on Cty Rd 7 for seven miles. Once you hit gravel you can either park and walk if there is too much snow, or from the months June thru October you can drive all the way to the reservoirs up there.
2 PLACES: 1 in Yampa, 1 in Steamboat. YAMPA: Check out Forest Service Road 900 which leads to Yamcolo Reservoir. Once you hit gravel you can either park and walk if there is too much snow, or from the months June thru October you can drive all the way to the reservoirs up there. 2. (EMERALD MOUNTAIN) IN STEAMBOAT 27 miles away: Good for all seasons and Free of charge. Daytime or moonlight, winter or summer. Great view from the top to see all of Steamboat. Here you can walk your dog, snowshoe, XC Ski, and ride fat bikes or just an easy short hike an hour up and less than an hour down. If you aim for the service tower up top you will have the most amazing views. To the tower and back is approx. 1.5 hour trek via snowshoes. GETTING TO EMERALD MOUNTAIN IN STEAMBOAT: This trailhead doesn't have an address and can be tricky to find so follow these tips getting there. The easiest way is to put Bud Werner Library into GPS (1289 Lincoln Ave) then instead of turning into Library parking lot, keep going straight and turn left on Gilpin St, then left on Saratoga, then right on Routt Street. You will see several cars parked looping along the curved road. If you get lost ask a local as they are walking all around the area.

Old Town Hot Springs

Located downtown Steamboat (27 miles from Yampa)
Located downtown Steamboat Springs. This is the less scenic hotsprings here, but still really enjoyable. More of a pool setting with several hot tubs and health spa. Great for small children, families and couples. Google photos of it. As a local, this is where I go, because it is closer than Strawberry Park, and has showers and lockers. However, when I have out of town visitors, I take them to Strawberry Park Hotsprings as it is more natural looking. Not as great for kids, though people bring their kids there all the time. I recommend looking at both places on google images. Both cost the same.
