City advice

Getting around

Cheap ways to travel from JFK Airport

If you're traveling solo or +1 and don't have heavy bags, and want to save some money, here are two travel options: SUBWAY: Take the AirTrain (Cost: $5) to Howard Beach subway stop, and then take the A train ( $2.75) to Jay-Street-Metrotech station, change for R train (direction: 95th St.), take that 3 stops to Union Street station. You'll be an 8-minute walk from our apartment. LONG ISLAND RR: Take AirTrain to Jamaica station ($5), then walk to LIRR. Buy a ticket to Atlantic Terminal station ($7.25 off-peak). At Atlantic Terminal, change for R train ($2.75) to Union St station.
Getting around

Cheap car service from JFK and LaGuardia

We have a reliable, inexpensive car service here in Park Slope that gets you to and from both airports much cheaper than a regular taxi or car share. It's called "Eastern." To/from JFK it costs $35 (cash), $40 (credit card); To/from LaGuardia it costs $30 (cash), $35 (credit card). Tips appreciated. You can reserve ahead of time by calling (718) 499-6227, or by downloading their app. We are also happy to do it for you, but we would need your flight information.
