Hikes and swimming and great views.
Nearly every one who visits wants to be in nature and go to North South Lake for the fabulous hiking. This brochure lists some but not all of the hikes. A more detailed map is provided at the Park Ranger station at North South Lake. http://www.greatnortherncatskills.com/sites/default/files/public/pdf/GreeneCty-HikingPDF-rev.pdf

Drinks & Nightlife

Award-winning beer and ale brewed locally. I'm partial to Outrage IPA. Very acceptable food menu, too. Sports TVs - if you need to see it. Located in Athens and now with a Catskill location on Water Street - expanding the brewery operation and with a tasting room and tour. Sports TVs - if you need to see it.

If you travel to the Hudson River Valley on Amtrak be sure to ask your conductor which side of the car faces the River. The ride from NYC is beautiful as the train travels much of the trip at river level and it's fun to look at the river, the mountains, cliffs and sky. Watch for bald eagles! The train can be expensive and the sooner you book the better.
