Food Scene
The West Rib is one of my favorite spots to sit down, grab a drink and chow down some food. It's nothing fancy, just a chill spot that used to have a cat mayor wandering around inside. This is where people generally head after climbing Denali, and you'll see why as you step in.

Assuming the weather is cooperating, this is one of my favorite spots to see the mountain from. Alternatively, just go and hang out by the mighty river confluence and be awed by three glacial rivers flowing together,

If you are driving up the Parks Highway, and the weather is right, the view of the mountain from right here is stunning. Not the best kept secret of course (or they wouldn't have put a viewpoint there), but it's well worth it.

Essentials
If you need supplies, this is your spot. An IGA grocer, prices aren't what you'd pay in Anchorage, but hey, you aren't in Anchorage. They have a good selection of stuff for being 90 miles up the Parks Highway.

Cubby's Marketplace

Nagley's has a limited supply of stuff if you can't make it to Cubby's. Interestingly enough Nagley's carries my favorite hot sauce, and Cubby's does not. The mayor of Talkeetna used to frequent Nagley's but hasn't since his passing, but you can ask around about the cat mayor here. It's also connected to the West Rib, so you can grab a bite to eat while you are here.

Trying to describe Wal Mikes in words is not possible. Stop in and check out a great piece of Alaskan history and culture. Mike is awesome and fun to talk to, last time I was in he had a Steve McQueen Academy Award. Make sure to look for his pillow.
