Our favourite fish and chips on the coast. Tucked away in Gulf Harbour on the road to the ferry, this fish and chip shop is well worth a visit. It is full of locals who go there for something different. Within the fish and chip shop is a fully licensed bar where you can sit and eat your meal, or simply have a wine whilst you wait for your takeaway. The owners are really friendly too. Top tip....order in the takeaway area as its cheaper than ordering once you are seated! $7-50 for Hoki and Chips!

There’s a popular quiz on Wednesday’s..... we are usually there and you’re welcome to join us. If you go down, tell Tom the manager you are staying with us and he will look after you well.

The old village of Puhoi is approx 25 mins drive North from here. The pub is one of the oldest taverns in NZ and certainly a different kind of place to visit. The locals are usually farmers with long white beards and gumboots! Food is the usual pub grub but we have been told the seafood chowder is amazing as is the salt and pepper squid!

Great for walks and views. Follow signs once you are there to various beaches and waterfalls located a few minutes walk from the car parks, or choose a longer walk from one side of the hill to another down to the beach. Theres also Glow Worms near the waterfall at night time......

A must do if you have kids with you....... if you go along to the marina near where the ferry leaves from at around 3-30 pm there's a good chance you will see lots of snapper, king fish and even stingray being fed by the people coming in from fishing charters. There are 5 stingray who live down at the marina and the largest one is around 150 cms wide! Well worth going to see! And when you've had enough, head to Ripples cafe for fish and chips and/or ice cream! Just don't tell Mark cos its his favourite.
