Listed as one of the "Last Great Places" in the Americas and the Pacific by the Nature Conservancy. There are three local trailheads for the Neversink River Unique Area. (See the topological map in the laundry room.). The closest two are on Cold Spring Road (Rt 101). From the house go east 3/4 mile, turn left on Cold Spring Road and drive just over a mile to the Cold Spring Road trailhead. It is about a 2.5 mile hike down to the Neversink River. Or, you can drive another mile to the Fish Hatchery Road trailhead. This is a 2.7 mile hike with a 500 foot elevation drop down to the river along Eden Brook. You can see dams that were build 100 years ago creating small ponds and lakes where trout were raised. The trail is a dirt road that goes all the way to the river. It is a one hour and fifteen minute walk in each direction. Another trailhead is at the end of Eden Road, off the Oakland Valley Road (Rt 48). Drive east on McCormick Road, then on the Oakland Valley Road for 3 miles. Turn left on Eden Road just before the bridge over the Neversink River. Eden Road then makes a quick right. Then turn right on Eden Road and drive about half a mile to the Blue Trail trailhead. Brown, Brook, and Rainbow trout, as well as bass can be caught here with your fishing license. Catch and release.

A truly remarkable example of Eastern European Architecture . The wooden Bell Tower and couplas dominates the countryside like in the Carpathian Mountain region of Ukraine. It consists of hand-carved moldings, Iconostasis, altars and chandelier along with beautiful oil paintings. The church was designed by Ukrainian architect, Apollinare Osadca in the style of churches built in Ukraine.
