A very nice area with lots if cafés and restaurants is Rörstrandsgatan street just off Sankt Eriksplan. Just walk Odengatan along the park - or through the park - for five minutes and you'll be there. Just at the beginning of the street (Rörstrandsgatan 4) you have Café Mellqvists, famous for its nice pastries, buns and bread. Be sure to try their excellent swedish cinnamon bun called “kanelbulle”.

In an old filmtheater right by the now resides a nice café and restaurant. Have som fika and watch the people walking by. If you walk along the water to the left you will reach a popular park Tantolunden. If its good weather in the weekends the young kids go here to have picnic and hang out. You can walk even further along the water, it is a very nice scenic view with some small cafes along the road.

This is my favourite coffeehouse in the Mariatorget neighbourhood. They have good coffee, cheap cookies and very nice, cheap sandwiches with Swedish flavours like reindeer. Ideal for a cheap and light lunch. Mariatorget is a lovely little park with a nice fountain. Around the square there are nice cafes etc to visit. I recommend you to just get of subway station “Mariatorget”, walk around in the neighbourhood and explore. For example St. Paulsgatan and Torkel Knutssonsgatan is a vivid and buzzing street with a lot of nice cafes.

I recommend you to take the boat to Lidingö. It passes Djurgården, Gröna Lund and the Östermalm. You only need to have the SL-Card. The Station on Lidingö is called “Dalénum” Here they have information in English, map and timetables for the ferry. http://www.sjovagen.nu/web/page.aspx?refid=32 On Lidingö you also have a wonderful museum and sculpturepark Millesgården. Here they have gathered all the sculptures of beloved Swedish sculpture artist Carl Milles. His works are truly amazing and I highly recommend you passing by.

Everything Else

Södermalm island/area is great. Kind of the Brooklyn (hipster part) of Stockholm. Especially around Nytorget (sofo), Mariatorget and in the other end Hornstull. Walk between them along the water on the south side, or/and along the slope overlooking the city on the north side! Really beautiful with many small cafés.

Gamla Stan is the old, historic part of Stockholm. The oldest buildings in Gamla stan are from the 1200. For several centuries, Stockholm was only this small Island. Today it is a very touristic area with a lot of ugly souvenirs etc. It is also here in Gamla Stan that the The Royal Palace and the Parliament House is located. It is possible to enter the Royal Palace for a fee.
