Located in Summer Cove Kinsale at the water’s edge is Charles Fort. A bastion fort one of the largest in the country with one section of the wall built in a star shape. A late 17th century fort designed by William Robinson who was also the architect of the royal Hospital in Kilmainham, Dublin.

The old head of Kinsale 5 miles from the town is well worth a visit to view the 200 year old Signal Tower which has recently been restored and is now open to the public as a Lusitania Museum where you can see artefacts from the wreckage of the Lusitania ship which sank off the south coast.
