It's a drive, but one of our favorite stops, especially if we go for a hike. Created in an old church it offers a one of a kind experience. Sundays you will find pick up bluegrass local musicians hanging out jammin.

Known as a rough bar with good bands, I have found it to be a great dive with great bands and fun people and not rough. The bands play all the way in the back and you can do some good dancing back there too. Cheap beer too.

Its actually a very good restaurant but we usually go there for the drinks. A little pricey but if you make reservations ahead of time, a week or so, ask for a table at the window upstairs overlooking the street. The best seat in town. Food is very good. Big, strong drinks: Dont make this the last bar you visit at the end of a Friday or Saturday night...

I learned that the way we triage patients in ED's in hospitals today originated in Frederick during the Civil War. Most of the downtown churches were transformed into hospitals for over a year during the War. This is a must-see.

Sightseeing

Take a picnic blanket, your dog, some beverages, a frisbee and just chill under a tree. Every Sunday night in the summer there are free concerts at the bandshell starting at 7pm, but stake your claim at 6 for a good spot. July 4, the entire park is a huge party, good for kids and adults alike, topped off with stunning fireworks. Traffic is horrible then so staying at Barbara's will be a wise move.
