Fantastic authentic Panjabi cooking from Ranjit. I love her spinach dish - takes hours to cook. Very reasonable so it's always busy. Be prepared to join others at a big table and maybe to wait for a table.

Fantastic pizza experience. This big restaurant is always buzzing and you will probably have to queue - they often say 'come back in 20 mins' so you can go next door to The Spanish Butcher for an extravagant cocktail meantime! Well priced, Paesano is fresh, delicious pizzas, good Italian wine and olives, served briskly and brightly. Great vibe. Good value.

Arts & Culture

Our fave day out. Who'd have thought transport could be so interesting! From Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car to the first bicycle - invented in Scotland and glorious old bangers, buses, trams and even an old Glasgow street and costumes. There's a tall ship anchored outside, so plan a visit there too. Lots of outdoor space. You can cycle along the Clyde to get here - great views up and down the water. There's a cafe. Free to attend. Donations welcome.

The Reid Building hosts exhibitions of the work of students of Glasgow School of Art - lots of famous names over the years as well as current students. The amazing Mackintosh building (Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh's work) is currently closed for a massive refurbishment after a fire. It will be a phoenix rising moment when it opens again.

For a longer stretch, walk on through Maxwell Park and into Pollok Country Park. Lovely wild woodland walks, a pond, stables. Maxwell House is a lovely example of a family estate and grand house and the old kitchen (now the cafe) is worth a visit to see how the house would have operated (and sample good scones!). There's a shop and exhibition.

The new Clydeside Distillery is Glasgow's only distillery - and it just opened in 2017. Its currently making its first batch of whisky. See the vats, hear about the history, have a tasting, buy gifts from one of the best whisky selections in town. Nice cafe.
