Yarmouth Pier is the only working wooden pier left in the UK. You can stroll down the Pier and watch the ferries coming and going and all of the smaller boats out in the Solent. Or you can walk around the specialist shops in Yarmouth itself. There are some lovely walks in Yarmouth, especially if you park in the large park just outside the town. A visit to Gossops is recommended for their great food, drinks and ice cream. I particularly recommend the Hot Chocolate with everything on it!

A lovely scenic village a short hop from the sea. I recommend a walk up to Longstones and beyond from Strawberry Lane. It's quite a climb, but well worth it for the views at the top which has a 360 degrees view of the Island and over to the mainland on a clear day.

Newtown used to be the main town on the Island and the oldTown Hall is a point of interest (English Heritage). If you walk down from The New Inn at Shalfleet for some 30 minutes you will arrive at Shalfleet Quay which is a wildlife haven. It is a wonderful family walk with the dog.
