This is by far my most favourite coffee shop in Joburg. It's in a nook at 44 Stanley Avenue, a mixed-use precinct with apartments, offices, restaurants and pop-up cafes. That means few people know about it. The garden outside with umbrellas is a nice place to sit when the weather is nice, and the boardroom indoors, when not booked, is a quiet place to work.

The museum is a must for any first-time visitor to Johannesburg. Expertly curated, it chronicles the history of the brutality that was apartheid and the resistance to it. They sometimes have special exhibitions. Give yourself at least half a day as the exhibits are multimedia—audio, video, text and images. They take a while to get through.
