In the warmer season, it is best to visit in the late afternoon since you can still enjoy a cooling breeze off of the ocean. In the cooler season, early evenings are nice as well. Enjoy an ice cold beer and a stunning sunset view while chatting with the locals. The food is delicious and their 'papas fritas' are fantastic. There is a small Tiendita on the grounds as well, where you can pick up basic grocery items - make sure that you try a 'Trit' ice cream treat - you will not be disappointed!

Great, easy hiking trails and plentiful wildlife in a coastal rain forest. Always check times as schedule is seasonal.

A fishing trip can be arranged out of the Marina in Mal Pais/Santa Teresa. Our favorite guide is Javier, who is friendly and professional and usually knows where the fish are biting that day. Even if the fishing isn't great, the scenery is beautiful and Javier pointed out whales one day as well as sea turtles swimming nearby. And the view of the coastline and Cabo Blanco is spectacular from the water.

Take the road along the beach toward Santa Teresa. Once you are almost through the tiny town of Hermosa, look for a road to your right that will take you to the parking lot for Hermosa Cobano Beach. Great beach for surfing with plenty of shade if you prefer to sit and watch the action. The bottom is flat and sandy, which makes it perfect for wading and swimming-especially for the little ones. Look for the coconut vendors either in the parking lot or on the beach. As always, remember to lock your car and do not leave any valuables in sight.

Sightseeing

Funky and popular beach town. A great place to enjoy lunch at a beachside restaurant and check out the street vendors and souvenir shops. Check out the enormous FicusTree that grows right beside the road after leaving Montezuma and heading toward Cabuya. Keep going and you will get to the town of Cabuya and might want to stop and treat yourself to one of the delicious and decadent specialty coffee drinks at Panaderia Cabuya (see description in 'Food Scene' section above).

Grocery Stores

Well stocked grocery store in Santa Teresa. If there is something that we can't find in Playa Manzanillo, we head to Super Ronny's #2.
