For foodies who like to sit at a table with lots of other people. Menu changes every day, the chef loves his work and the food is excellent.

Not a budget place by any means, but exceptional food for food lovers. And so close to the house. One of Edinburgh's top 5 restaurants. Make sure to book long in advance.

This used to be an exceptional restaurant with a French chef (and so close to home!!) but may have changed ownership recently so no guarantees but definitely worth looking into.

Definitely for a very special occasion. But such a unique move back in time. Old hunting lodge, still one of the best 5 restaurants in town I would say. Book in advance. 5 minutes by car from the house.

Drinks & Nightlife

So close to home by car (barely 10 minutes), allegedly the oldest pub in Edinburgh, with the oldest indoor bowling space, a beer garden and some Jacobite historical connections to boot.

Probably Edinburgh's biggest beer garden - absolutely insane during the festival and big screen up for most bog sports events. A must if you're into all that stuff.
