“During our stay, Ate Susan the caretaker was on vacation but her sister Geraldine took over in welcoming guests like us and made sure we felt at home and comfortable. She was very polite cheeeful, helpful, and accommodating. The Private Sanctuary, as its name suggests, truly was a relaxing place we come home to after every tiring day of walking and exploring SG. I definitely made the right decision of choosing this over hotels. The common areas like the garden, dining, and living rooms were full of artworks. Our room was big enough, with a private toilet and bath and verandas overlooking the peaceful neighborhood. Simple breakfast was served every 7am- bread, spreads, boiled eggs cereals, fruits, coffee, milk, tea, orange juice. We were fueled every morning for lots of walking and sightseeing. I miss our room already. We will definitely book here again when we cone back to SG!”
Our studio with window, balcony and high ceiling is bright, clean & smart in modern design with ensuite bathroom and toilet. Situated directly in front of Jalan Besar MRT station, our location is not only convenient to and from the Airport but also in the center of attractions and the City. “Lynda's place is genuine. The room isn't very big, but it is exactly how it looks like in the photos. The pillows and hairdryer were quite good. Nice to have a balcony, for natural light. I arrived early and waited outside, but Lynda decided to let me in anyway. The best thing is by far the location - right beside Jalan Besar station (such helpful staff) and Little India. You can get good biryani and cheap knick-knacks in Little India. Also a short walk to Bugis Junction and Village. The common kitchen area is handy. Just wish that kitchen towel was supplied. I also would have liked to have been warned about the two flights of steps. However, Lynda helped me carry my big bag up. She didn't waste time and gave a clear, concise introduction. I slept well (which doesn't always happen in hotels due to people coming and going at ungodly hours). In summary, good place for introverted, peace-loving travelers on a budget”
Our charming, lovely colonial home on Petain Road in the hip Jalan Besar neighbourhood is the perfect place to rest and relax while exploring the exciting area of Little India as it is situated on a calm, and elegant residential street! ;) Centrally-located to many awesome eateries, hawker centres, food streets & local bars/cafes, we are just a short 5min walk to Farrer Park MRT station:). The City Square Mall and infamous 24-hour Mustafa Shopping Centre are also within a 3-5min stroll.
“Shu's place was charming - the façade is stunning and bright, surrounded by greenery (as well as two neighbouring speciality coffee shops!) It's a short 15 minute walk to the closest MRT station as well as a ~20 minute walk to the Arab Quarter and Little India. The room was spacious for my partner and I with a queen size bed, small table, fridge and A/C. Although the room has no windows, natural light still floods the room through the sky lights, and never felt dark. There is a washing machine but it was always in use by other guests during our four day stay. There's also a kitchen but we didn't use it (Singapore's food scene is too good to miss!) We would recommend Shu's place for any traveller lookong for a comfortable place to stay in Singapore!”
