José Parlá’s private tour of Art Basel Miami Beach

I'm excited to welcome you to my hometown of Miami for a guided tour to Art Basel Miami Beach 2024, where several of my artworks are on display, including my latest large-scale painting, Pathways. On our private tour, you’ll have a chance to dive into my world, explore my creative process, and we’ll wrap up with refreshments and my favorite Cuban vinyl records in the fair’s private lounge. • We’ll meet before the fair opens, and I’ll personally share the inspirations and stories behind my latest work on display at Ben Brown Fine Arts. • Then, we’ll visit my recent large-scale painting, Pathways, featured in the Meridians sector dedicated to monumental installations. You’ll gain insight into my creative process and the dynamic, dance-like technique I use in my painting. • As the fair opens to the public, we’ll head to the private outdoor lounge on the Banyan Tree Terrace, where I’ll play a selection of my favorite Cuban vinyl records as we enjoy Cuban fare and drinks. • I’ll share exciting stories about my solo exhibition, Homecoming, at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, created as a homage to my home city. I’ve led VIP relations for Art Basel Miami Beach since the fair’s founding, and today I'm inviting you to join me on a walking art journey through the multicultural neighborhood of Allapattah, which has emerged as a contemporary arts hub in Miami. You'll get insider access to the most exciting art galleries, then skip the line for a special tour of my favorite immersive art installations by world renowned artists at Superblue Miami. • We’ll begin at Andrew Reed Gallery where you’ll be welcomed with light snacks and refreshments. • You’ll hear about the highlights of this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach and learn about the cultural significance of Allapattah to the city. • We’ll step into four emerging art galleries including Andrew Reed Gallery, KDR Gallery, Voloshyn Gallery, and Mindy Solomon Gallery, each one handpicked for its distinct styles and mediums. You’ll meet with the gallery owners and receive personal commentary on the art and curation. • As a highlight, we’ll end the tour with a custom-designed VIP visit to Superblue, an immersive art experience featuring large-scale, immersive installations by artists like Es Devlin, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, teamLab, and James Turrell.

Studio visit and photo workshop at Bakehouse Art Complex

Join me and the Bakehouse photographers, Diana Espín and Pedro Wazzan, for a special studio visit and smartphone photography workshop at Bakehouse Art Complex, Miami’s oldest and largest artist-serving organization. You’ll connect with fellow creatives, sharpen your photography skills, and create your own prints to showcase at a pop-up exhibit at the Bakehouse during Art Basel Miami Beach weekend. • When you arrive, you’ll be given access to Diana and Pedro’s studios as they discuss their creative process and approach to photography. • After the studio visit, the artists will lead a photography workshop with emphasis on portraiture and the built environment. You’ll put your new skills to use right away capturing the Bakehouse's unique interiors and exteriors as a former Art Deco-era industrial bakery. • We’ll help select your image to feature in a special pop-up exhibition in our space and introduce you to basic printing techniques. • Once the images are printed, you’ll collaborate with me, Diana, and Pedro to install your work for a temporary exhibit during Art Basel Miami Beach weekend. We’ll document the exhibition and share photos on the Bakehouse’s social channels. As a keepsake from your day as a Bakehouse artist, you’ll also take home a printed copy of your best shot. The Loveland Pass Photo Experience

Each photo session is a flat rate of $400! Booking for one person will cover your whole party, no need to book privately! About 20 minutes east of Dillon, CO is the beautiful Loveland Pass and the Continental Divide, where I'll take you up past 11,000 ft. elevation to get some of the most breath-taking views that one can simply drive to. Wild flowers grow abundantly in the summer, changing leaves are visible in the fall, and the views on a clear winter day are unbeatable. Please join me as we tour the grounds and photograph your experience any time of year! Designed for adventurous couples or groups, or a single person looking to document their time in this spectacular landscape! Be prepared to be active & in front of the camera as we capture precious moments touring around the mountain pass! Things to note: - Transportation is not included in this experience. Please be prepared to use your own vehicle to get to our destination. - It is outside, & being this high in elevation, weather can be unpredictable. Coin and Spoon Ring Crafting

Welcome to the Colorado chapter of an Experience I hatched in California. It was so fun (well I thought so) that I outfitted a shop here to keep it going. The overall process takes about an hour per guest. We get to explore the fascinating and enjoyable process of folding a coin into a ring. The spoon ring process is similar and a bit simpler. I have lots of coins and spoons to choose from, which are included in your Experience. If you have a coin or spoon of your own, it is quite possible we can turn it into a one-of-a-kind treasure. Please make sure your coin is non-magnetic and at least the size of a quarter. Smaller spoons, like a demitasse, are much easier to craft into a ring. A commentary on children: While I'm sure your little darlings are brilliant, perfectly behaved and have an infinite attention span, they probably don't have the body mass or strength to effectively work the tooling. This is fuzzy math, of course, so I'll let you be the judge. You will be entering the No Tipping Zone so let's just make amazing things and tell lies without that concern hanging in the background. PLEASE READ: My posted times are flexible but I had to put something out there. If need be I can probably slide the timing to accommodate your day. I hope to hear from you! Chris

Handcraft a Unique Ring with Traditional Silversmithing

In this beginner Silversmithing class, you will pick out your own stone and create the setting and ring band. We'll get familiar with the torch, jeweler's saw, flex shaft drill, anvil & bench pin, together. We'll solder the bezel, cut out the setting and file it flat. Then we create your ring shank according to your own size and solder them together. We'll finish your ring by setting the stone and polishing the piece. All finished work is in sterling silver and you get to go home with a brand new ring! Patience is required. No experience necessary. *Other things to note* Please dress for the occasion! We'll be sawing metal and using messy materials. Don't wear anything dangly and please have closed toe shoes on. This activity is hands on and messy! Also to note: long fingernails could make this a little harder, but it is doable!

Silversmithing with a Local Artist

Experience the excitement of making your own piece of jewelry! This is a three hour hands-on workshop, in which you will learn the silversmithing fabrication techniques to make a sterling silver band ring. All materials and tools will be provided for the workshop. Just come, have fun and learn! During the workshop you will be lead step-by-step through the processes. It is a very safe environment, however each participate will be asked to sign a liability waiver and safety will be discussed. The process begins by measuring and cutting a piece a sterling silver the desired width of your ring. Next the metal is annealed with a torch. Annealing is the process of heating metal with a flame to make it malleable. After each time the metal is heated, it is cleaned in a solution to remove the oxidation that is created on the surface. Once the metal is prepared, you will have choices of hammers and metal stamps to texture a pattern onto the sterling silver, creating your personal design. Then the metal is cut to the length required for your ring size, formed into shape and soldered together. The final steps are refining, buffing and polishing your creation to have a beautiful shine! Rest assured that your safety is our priority. Regarding COVID-19, we have a cleaning protocol in place. Disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer are available for your use.

Bob Ross Style Painting Classes w/ a Certified Instructor

Times can be adjusted, please message if you would like to see if we can fit your schedule. I consider Steve Ross a good friend and look forward to sharing stories about him and his dad. You'll start with a blank canvas, and at the end you'll have a happy little painting with all Bob's favorite items, clouds, mountain, lake and of course, trees! We go over everything, including adding the liquid white, to signing your finished piece. All supplies are provided, including a 9 x 12 canvas. We will be using oil paints just like Bob did and this will not be dry when your ready to leave, however I do have plans to help you get your masterpiece home. You need not bring anything but a snack, a soda or two, and your happy smile. You will learn how to hold the brushes properly, how to load the brushes with paint, and how to apply the loaded brush to the canvas to get your desired effect. You will learn the how's and why's of making this wet-on-wet technique flow from your fingertips - well at least make a grand effort for your first painting. You can look for this to be fun, entertaining and educational. Class is set at 2.5 hours but for one or two students in a class you could be done quicker, if four or more in a class it may run longer. Other things to note: Remember we are working with oil paints, and it may not come out of clothes. Wear something you don't mind getting paint on.

Learn Astro Photography in the Rocky's

Experience Colorado Astrophotography by taking breathtaking photos of the stars against the Rocky Mountains. The night photography tours are usually about 3 hours and begin within an hour of sunset. We have access to Colorado's greatest parks and know all the hidden back roads that have some of the most stunning views. Please look up moon phase and rise/set times. We can still go when the moon is out, it just dilutes the amount of stars captured, but we can get stars in any condition other than rain or snow. I have a Toyota 4 runner that fits 6 guests and we go to Guanella pass. You can bring your own DSLR camera or we will provide one for you. If you bring your own, please email us so we can make sure you have the right type of lens you need for optimal use. We have been recognized as one of Thrillist's top 50 experiences in the world as well as recognition from Matador magazine, and Voyage magazine. We drive about 30-40 min into the darkness, then spend another 30min getting cameras on their best settings. Then we take amazing photos and ask any questions about the camera or astronomy that may come up. We stay close to the car, and I teach you how to take optimal photos. We return home with amazing photos. Other things to note If mountain driving scares you, just let me know and we can keep it to paved roads.

Build a hybrid pocket pipe

Please contact to book. We will be making one of a kind wood and resin Pocket Pipes from scratch! No kits here! You will start by picking out your wood blanks for your bowl as well as our hybrid stem blanks that will be assembled during our workshop, cut, carved, engraved if you like, polished and finished into something you can really be proud of. Of Course we have to try them out so feel free to bring tobacco or otherwise since this is Colorado...and give them a try! Feel free to bring a friend to observe for FREE! However seating is limited and prioritized for paying participants work order will go: -Pick your wood -Assemble the blanks with glue and clamps -Use the drill press to prep our bowls -Carve, sand, shape the pipes - take a quick beer/wine break -Enjoy your new creation! We will be in my shop (Garage) the entirety of the work time and most of the class primarily using a rotary tool with an extension attachment (makes it like using a pen to carve/sand rather than holding the entire tool) Other things to note Any and all experience levels are welcome, I especially encourage folks who have never tried any wood working. I will always be there to help or step in if any step of the process makes you uncomfortable. I can often accommodate custom time slots as well, just shoot me a message anytime!
