Our island weathered 2 category 5 hurricanes September 2017 and we have had an amazing recovery. If you have any questions about the condition of the island and our home please ask. Our house is located 5 minutes from Cruz Bay. This room has parking, private entrance, private bath, and private porch, to enjoy the view. We have a courtyard with a swimming pool and outdoor kitchen that you are welcome to use. There is a Ford Escape available with the room for $50 per day.
“I was supposed to go to St. John with a group of friends in early June but when everyone backed out due to the CV-19 pandemic I was unsure what to do. But when I found out that the USVI would be opening back up on the first of June I decided to keep my plane reservation and luckily I chose Hawk’s Rest for my stay. Donna and Kevin were superb hosts and the room they let to me was just perfect. The view from the balcony is exquisite and being able to wake up every morning with a cup of coffee while taking in the view high above the water was invigorating. In addition, one of the best decisions I made was to rent the SUV from them and use it to explore the island. I’d give Hawk’s Rest (as well as the hosts) six stars out of five if I could.”

“Be prepared to be WOW'ed. The pictures are nice but you will be blown away by the real thing! The view is amazing. The pool is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture and it was very clean. The whole condo is super clean with very nice appliances, high quality tiled floors, high quality bath towels, beach towels, shampoo and conditioner. I was impressed with all the fancy touches. The beds are super comfortable. There are 2 queen beds in one of the bedrooms and they have to the be the most comfortable mattresses I've ever laid on. The King bed in the masterbedroom is a Tempur-pedic and it's amazing as well. I had trouble deciding which bed to sleep on each night :) The balconies are spacious and screened in which was a must for being outside at night! No bugs on the balconies! I enjoyed having he masterbedroom balcony all to myself. It's got a great view too! The Air-conditioning works great. Everything is in excellent working order. Nothing is moldy, old or gross. He provides soft coolers, hard coolers, beach chairs and floats. We used the cooler backpack the whole time which fit ice packs (which are also provided in the freezer), gatorade, bottled waters, and sandwiches for the day. There was also other compartments in that cooler backpack to fit other snacks and things. Be prepared for the hill that this condo is located on. For the first 3 days we walked up it going to and from town. Town is really only a few min walk without that hill LOL, but with the hill plan on 10 mins. You will have calves of steel when you leave. The last 4 days we rented a Jeep. The hill was intimidating to drive up and down and park on but we did it! :) I I would definitely recommend this place and stay again!”
Situated among the treetops on Ajax Peak, the Bodhi House is a romantic and private cottage overlooking Coral Bay, St. John and the British Virgin Islands. The standalone cottage features stunning views and the perfect location to explore to Coral Bay, Cruz Bay, and all of the beaches the island has to offer.
“Emily couldn't have been more responsive, both before and during the stay. I would text her a question, guiltily, because I'd already texted more questions than I'd intended to, and immediately, the three rotating iPhone dots would appear and she would answer, and cheerfully! It is wonderful to be so high up. The view is spectacular in a way that is difficult to turn away from. You have a book open on your lap but you're not turning the pages (but you have to hold them down, because of the breeze). Just off the lanai, a few feet away, is the very tip-top of some kind of tall spindly tropical tree. You see Coral Bay and the East End and a BVI or two, the sun sets and the gloaming rises so then maybe, finally, you can go get something to eat in Coral Bay but then the house lights wink on here and there on the steep slopes and you see car lights wending the switchbacks and that is so cool that you decide maybe microwave popcorn will do tonight (thanks for the microwave popcorn). The sleeping was delightful with windows thrown open and the breezes from three of the four directions but it rains in the night (the mist on your face tells you so) so you jump up and close the appropriate windows and then you open them up again later when things settle down. We slept so well. The bed was comfy. We enjoyed the chirping of the tree frogs. The drive to the property is thrillingly terrifying. The road goes from sort of paved to not paved at all to a weird grooved thing to maybe paved again (I may have the order wrong) with some impressive pot holes and a dizzying hill and all the while it is a two way road that is barely one jeep wide. We only met with two other cars the during our stay, once we backed up for them and once they backed up for us. This was fun. We saw deer one night and donkeys another. What we so enjoyed about the place is that it is perfectly sized for a loving couple (don't bother if your are on the rocks), which means you get to stay in a very nice, cozy place with an incomparable view for a reasonable, well-well-worth-it, price. The downside to this is that, if you bring enough clothes for three weeks, like we did, you will be living out of your suitcases because there is not enough storage space for three weeks of clothes, maybe for a week's worth, if you are like my sister-in-law, who packs what she refers to as a "seventy-two-hour dress" or a half a week for normal people. The outdoor shower is very cool and fun because you get to be naked outside which you haven't gotten to do since your were little, or anyway since college. The wonderful breezes for sleeping and view-gazing and so on do make the shower a little chilly sometimes. But worth it! And very private. We found the location ideal. A quick drive to Coral Bay in one direction and not-as-quick drive to Cruz Bay in the other (but still not too far, maybe 30 minutes on route 20 which passes many lovely vistas and beaches. Maybe less than 30?). And so that means that you are a short drive away from spectacular beaches. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the property.”
