Since the roaring 1970"s the quintessential college bar/restaurant in Lexington. It is across the street from a very attractive small city park called Hopkins Green near the center of town and close to both colleges. Once a loud, rough and rowdy place new management about five years ago…

Restaurant
“Since 1932 an institution in Lexington and by far the oldest continuously operating restaurant in Lexington. Long a favorite of the college alumni crowd and locals alike it has been significantly remodeled and upgraded since a fire gutted the original building about ten years ago. The food is fresh, well prepared and presented -excellent quality. It is a very reasonably priced restaurant for the quality of the venue and food. There is an active bar scene on weekends and college events.”

Restaurant
“Southern fare in intimate, historic digs. In November 2003, the Bistro on Main opened its doors with an expanded menu that retained the appeal of the Black Dog Café but also added many upscale dishes. Offering a different menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner the Bistro also offers daily special soups, quiches, and entrees. The intimate, casual atmosphere and affordable menu has made the Bistro on Main a favorite among visiting students and their parents as well as locals and tourists alike. ”
