Nestled in the heart of the Whangarei Quarry Gardens is the Quail Cafe. It's the starting point for a walk in the gardens, and a wonderful place to refuel and relax.

Point of Interest
“Perfect idea if you're looking to get active and have some fun! This place has many activities available, but the main attraction is the monster scooters. Kind of like normal scooters but with huge tires and great suspension. 8 different downhill tracks to choose from, with shuttles collecting you from the bottom each time and taking you back up. Approximately a 10 minute drive to get there. Highly recommend!”

“The walk between the Park and the waterfall follows the Hatea River. There are many picnic spots and fresh water swimming holes. This is an easy walk, with some short steep climbs, that is suitable for all ages and it is a popular running track for many locals.”

“Whale Bay is our local Rarotanga !!....a most special bay surrounded by beautful bush and a short walk from the Whale Bay carpark. Also a lovely spot early evening to watch the sun go down while enjoying a wine/ beer on the beach . You wont want to leave! And...you will want photos! There is also a beautiful scenic walk from Matapouri to Whale Bay which takes 1/2hour.”
