Dobroyd Head Lookout

Why locals recommend it

On the coastal walk from Manly to The Spit, you have the opportunity to visit a tiny rocky beach I call Buddha Beach. It’s unnamed and unmarked on maps, but there’s a carved stone Buddha on one of the rocks surrounding the tidal pool. The views from here are stunning, looking southwest toward Balmoral Beach. If you’re coming from Clontarf, Buddha Beach can be reached by scrambling down rocks, through the bushes, just before you get to Dobroyd Head. Or, you can also get here by kayak, which I often do. Not many people know about it, and it’s not easy to reach, so you’ll often have the place all to yourself.

Reef Beach is just beautiful and surrounded by peaceful bush. I have seen a seal and a little penguin just offshore there on summer evening walks.

Because here you will find amazing hiking trails, secluded beaches, stunning views and old squatters houses built into the caves and rocks.
