There is a bicycle rental store at the end of the main shopping street of Aalsmeer: Waning Bicycles at Zijdstraat 5. Open Tuesday through Friday from 9.00-18.00 and Saturday from 9.00-17.00. Tel. +31-297-322120. Bicycles are with 3 gears or electrically powered, which can take you to Amsterdam effortlessly in under 1 hour. My favourite route goes through the forest Amsterdamse Bos, Ask for the "Flower route" or the "Route around the lakes" of 23 km long, taking you by villages such as Kudelstaart, Leimuiden and Rijssenhout with many restaurants along the way. The local tourist office "VVV" on the same Zijdstraat, at number 12, can also give you 12 other, shorter routes.
