Amazing views along the Spokane River! The trail extends all the way to Idaho for those long distance walkers/riders but also offers a great experience for anyone looking to get out and see the sites it has to offer.

(various access points, check visitspokane.com for trailhead information) One of the best urban bikes or hikes in the country, in our humble opinions. The trail runs right through the city along the Spokane River, offering spectacular views of Spokane Falls, which are pretty impressive! The total length of the trail is 40 miles, stretching from Sontag Park in Nine Mile Falls, Washington to the Washington / Idaho state line. To get there, you can drive, of course, or hop on your bike and follow the bike lane that is literally out our front door, ride for 10 minutes, and you’re on the Centennial Trail. From that entry point, go right (east) to travel through a bit of the Gonzaga campus, then further east through residential neighborhoods and in fact all the way to the Idaho border. From the entry point heading left (west), you’ll ride through more campus and into the sprawling Riverfront Park complex, with numerous foot/bike bridges crossing the river, gardens, event spaces, fountains, playgrounds, and other urban attractions. On summer weekends, be prepared to dodge baby strollers, skate kids, and selfie-takers – all perfect people-watching. For a good workout, continue west through the recently developed Kendall Yards retail-residential complex, following the river along a high bluff. Once you leave the urban center, enjoy a more rigorous workout, still on a paved trail yet through some slightly hilly terrain, heading toward Riverside State Park. Note that the Centennial Trail is also a great walk, no need for a bike. See more about the sights in the Riverfront Park entry, below.
