Why locals recommend it
This 100-year-old tradition based on the classic book by Kay Thompson continues to delight little girls—as it did me—their moms, and grandmas. The formal tea, complete with finger sandwiches and custom Eloise tableware, is little slice of children’s fantasy land. I can’t get enough of the warm scones with Devonshire double cream. At $50 per child under 12, this is a special-occasion splurge. Make sure to make a reservation, and get there with plenty of time to spare as there may be a wait. But it’s worth it.

3 min walk. Tea time in the main hall is classy and exceptional. The Plaza Food Hall is also a great stop for a quick lunch.
The hotel where Home Alone 2 was filmed. Very close to Central Park and fantastic shopping!
