Ok so Chef Tom Kerridge came to Edinburgh and chose The Fishmarket as the best fish and chips in the UK!!?? A partnership with a Michelin star chef and the key fishmonger to all the top restaurants - he might have a point. Unfortunately since he made this statement on national TV the queues have been out the door and it's not unheard of to wait 2 hours (although it's worth it!). My suggestion would be hire one of the Just Eat bikes on the corner of Henderson Row/Dundas Street and take the bicycle path down to Newhaven and enjoy your Scampi/Lobster/Fish supper on the pier. You will find the start of the cycle path just on Eyre Place and it will take you 15/20 minutes and a straight direction to reach The Fishmarket.

New restaurant with great ratings, the extra crispy Fish and Chips here are one of the most talked about in the past year. Seafood also. The Fishmarket is a new seafood venture from Ondine’s Chef Patron, Roy Brett and Gary Welch, owner of Welch Fishmongers. Situated on Newhaven Harbour where boats have landed fish since the 16th century, the refurbishment of the original fish market building has taken over a year and extensive investment.
