Today it is called Puccini Lake Tower in honor of the great master Giacomo Puccini who, at the end of the 19th century, chose to live on the shores of the lake, splitting his two passions, music and hunting. The villa is now home to the year-round museum, where the musician's remains are kept and where you can admire the artifacts and relics of life and the glorious artistic event of Puccini. In July and August, the Pucciniano Festival is held every year, the most important opera festival in Italy. It takes place in a large open-air theater, on the shore of the lake of Massaciuccoli, right in front of the Casa Museo del Maestro Puccini, where his greatest works take place. Between Torre del Lago and Pisa is the natural reserve of Chiarone, Oasi LIpu Massaciuccolo, one of the most famous ornithological sites in Italy. The Nature Reserve Visit Center starts the Nature Trail that reaches the three viewing huts. The area is equipped with stilt walks and the walk is pleasant and interesting, but if you want to fully capture the beauty of the Lake, the Natural Reserve offers different possibilities of hiking on the water, by boat for groups, by boat or by canoe for single visitors.
