Why locals recommend it
When I think of La Palma, I think of Christmas, family, and happy times. There isn’t a year that goes by that my family, along with half the Mission district, doesn’t grab a huge order of tamales from La Palma during the holidays. This place has been around for decades, and for good reason: It’s half Mexican food market, half taquería and 100% the ish. They may be famous for their tamales, but don’t miss the traditional Mexican pozole soup they make on weekends. It’s insanely delicious!
Tips from locals
it's not a delicatessen - it's a Mexi-catessen! I get my blue (corn) & green (agave) corn tortillas here; try their potato taquitos, atole & you may be able to catch the women in the back making hand made tortillas.
