Few neighborhoods are walkable to the National Zoo - in 15 mins you can get there! The zoo is huge and free and a great time on a nice day.

Free, vast, and always full of furry (sometimes scale-y) friends. The address shows this as on Connecticut Avenue, but the closest entrance to our spot is down Kenyon at. About a half mile west.
