Tips from locals
Great bar. Come for some great beer and drinks, sit down on the chesterfield sofas and read the papers, dine in the restaurant or sit in the sun in the outside area at the back. Dog-friendly.
Delicious food and a quirky interior makes this gastro pub a great choice every time. Grab a private booth, lounge on a sofa or hide up on the mezzanine.

“A traditional station pub, lovingly refurbished in 2013, The Tap on The Line combines vintage charm with modern comfort - and sets a brand new standard for train fare. Set right on the platform at Kew Gardens Station, it’s a unique and special spot to watch the world go by.”

“Richmond Park, with its wide-open views and roaming deer, is the biggest green space in London. On the outskirts is a 1970s sports centre with heated indoor and outdoor pools. Surrounded by palm trees and pampas grass, the 33-meter outdoor pool is a lovely place to swim, popular with families. But in shuts down in winter. Richmond is on the flight path to Heathrow, so you can watch the belly of planes flying overhead as you do your laps.”

“Kew Green is a traditional village green near the river. It has a duck pond which is thought to have been a horse pond used by the royal visitors when they came to Kew. The impressive building of St Anne’s dominates the green and is the burial place of several artists and important botanists. But most importantly, it is the burial place of the great English artist Thomas Gainsborough who received several royal commissions from King George III. Cricket is still played on the green in summer, and here it is still possible to gain a sense of Kew as a bustling village rather than part of the London suburbs.”
