The original capital of New York, with pre-Revolutionary War stone buildings to prove it. We love both sides of town—the Stockade District and the Waterfront. Rough Draft bookstore is a highlight.

It is very beautiful and historic, with some remaining buildings dating back to pre-Revolutionary war era. There is a lot to learn and you can find a tour guide who will take you on a walking tour. There are a good handful of excellent restaurants to choose from.
