Sede episcopal de la Archidiócesis de Madrid, consagrada por S.S. Juan Pablo II. Construida (sXIX-XX) como reemplazo de la antigua Iglesia de Santa María de la Almudena, debido al crecimiento de la ciudad y para otorgar un obispado a Madrid (perteneciente a la archidiócesis de Toledo).
