Technically this water/rock formation is located in a National forest but it's on the coast 101 highway between Newport and Florence. Go at high tide. It's incredible to see in person. A little over 3 hour drive time from Portland. Worth it.

Great way to take in the power of the Pacific. Located 5.5 miles South of A Stone's Throw on 101. Don't forget to check out the trail the left (not just to the right to Devils Churn).

A site worth seeing. The inlet developed over many thousands of years as wave action carved into the basalt shoreline, first forming a deep sea cave whose roof eventually collapsed. As the tide comes in it can throw spray several hundred feet into the air when the waves reach the end of the churn. Visitors are urged to be cautious when visiting the churn as it can be dangerous.
