The caves feature various rooms, in some cases with extremely high ceilings, stalagmites, and stalactites, and rivers rushing along the base. A guided tour leads visitors through the Cueva Clara Empalme. In addition to the natural wonders the cave system presents, it's also interesting to note that the caves were used by the indigenous population long ago.

This 268-acre park built around the cave system features tours of some of the caves and sinkholes, and is one of the most popular natural attractions in Puerto Rico. Archaeological evidence proves that these caves were explored hundreds of years ago by the Taíno Indians, Puerto Rico's first inhabitants and it's believed that this was a Holy place for them.
