The sea and the city center are close by and can be reached both on foot and by bike in a short time, (beach promenade about 3 km, Train station and pedestrian zone about 2 km). The Donnerschwee farm, first mentioned in 1937 and later built, is located in the northeast of the city of Oldenburg and was the first settlement house on the square. The Donnerschwee district emerged from an old farming village, which presumably existed since the 9th century. The surroundings impress with their proximity to the Donnerschwee meadows and their beautiful cycling and walking paths. Nevertheless, everyday necessities are within a few minutes' walk or on foot.

An excursion to Jever 12 km or to Dangast by bike through the beautiful countryside. Close by is the beautiful Sande swimming lake or the Gödens moated castle. On the Ems-Jade Canal is a paddle and pedal station. Various restaurants and supermarkets are 3 km away.
