Breathe deeply, unwind and unplug. At Virginia City Homestead, plan on undisturbed quiet and sweeping views of sage covered hills and mountain ranges, breathtaking sunsets and brilliant night skies. Nestled in the "ghost town" of Virginia City , a national landmark, you can get away from it all. We are ideally situated en route between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park; a relaxing break on your journey. We're also the place for experiencing Montana's early history of gold!
“For a small group of Montanans were looking for a quick quiet getaway, this was an absolutely perfect location and experience. Even though you're mere minutes from town, looking out across the porch you feel as though you're the only people for miles. There's no reason to leave the cabin as Jon and Rikki have a plethora of fantastic books, games, and a cozy fireplace. Did I mention the porch and large groomed front yard? Perfect for a game of cornhole. Soft beds, immaculately clean, everything you need to prepare a homecooked meal. Couldn't recommend highly enough!”
For the adventure traveler, try a night or two in a sheep wagon. Home on wheels to early sheep herders in the mountains of Montana, this hand built wagon sits on our 30 acre homestead. Finished under canvas with tongue and groove pine, this very small space offers a unique lodging experience. Inside is a nice queen size bed, 2 bench seats, and a pull out dining table. Enjoy mountain views from the outside bench, rocker & fire pit. Bathroom facilities in our nearby shop.
“The best most unique Airbnb experience to date! Wow. From the view, to the comfy mattress and all of the little touches inside that remind you where you are- beautiful. Patty was really quick to respond to my messages and even provided some helpful tips for things to do prior to us even arriving. Everything was extremely neat and unique. We were able to walk the property and see some horses and chickens walking around. Oh, and the best surprise was the fire pit... wood provided. My cousin and I had a little tough time starting the fire but we got it going. Spending the 4th of July here was magical!”
The Governor Meagher cabin is rich in Virginia City History when we were still a Territory! This home has been completely refurbished and one block from the historic district. This home is on the Historic Register.
“This little cabin was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. Woohoo that it had enough pillows to accommodate my liking, which is rare. There was ample bedding and an abundance of kitchen supplies (dishes etc.). The location was perfect for walking around Virginia City. I will be back.”
