“Great experience. The house is very beautiful and spacious, with a large garden. It is surrounded by nature, with a beautiful view of the mountains. The position is particular: it is located in the mountains, you have to calculate 30 minutes for chania and as many to return, so obviously to go to the more distant beaches you have to calculate the times well. We were nevertheless able to see them all and it was not worth it. Highly recommended if you are looking for nature and tranquility, less if you want to do evenings around. The house is really beautiful and equipped with everything. The best aspect was the hospitality of giannis and his father, who welcomed us personally and toasted us, gave us raki, vegetables from the garden and typical desserts. They also specially cleaned the bbq for us to use. Giannis always very helpful and quick to answer and to give advice. Beautiful experience, really recommended”
Renovated- traditional 100 year old stone house, which reminds of a refugee. Settled in a small village, Zourva, at an altitude of 650 m. in the heart of the mountains with a cypress forest and beautiful walking paths. Two taverns in the village. Moreover, the area is ideal for those who love trekking, caving or canyoning in the incredibly beautiful and wild White Mountains.
“Charming. Rustic. Super clean. Great hospitality. It was a perfect weekend stay - especially If you want to be taken back in time. This quaint, charming traditional Cretan village home is a perfect weekend stay (or longer). Roula and her mother are exceptional hosts. Just know that this is a place to stay if you really want to feel like living in the 1800s. The bathroom is in a small room outside - but it’s not a problem! It’s only 5 steps from the main door. The bed is the only slight negative here... it’s a little hard and for me, even though I have issues with hard beds, I was okay. (We stayed two nights). Other than that... every single aspect of this home is perfect. I highly recommend this place in the winter! We didn’t turn on the air/heat and tried to not turn on the lights and just used the fireplace. It was such a wonderful experience. Ευχαριστούμε Roula! We will be back! Tips: - drive during the day - roads are curvy and narrow up the mountain. - never flush your paper down the toilet. It’s not good anywhere in Greece for septic tanks - bring cash! Most tavernas accept card but there is a slight chance the internet will go down and cash is only accepted. - buy groceries in the city (Chania) to last you - most tavernas don’t open early in the morning and hours can be flexible depending on the day. - Try Roula’s mother’s homemade Quince marmalade if she has it available. Its delightful!”
A beautiful stone house in the area of Chania for family vacation. It is 20kms from the centre of Chania, approximately 33 kms from the airport and 16 kms from the nearest beach. It is ideal for hiking and trekking combining mountain and sea view.
“Lithari! What a great place to stay in the Chania region. Michail was an awesome host, easy to communicate with and generous with his hospitality. He hustled to bring us loads of wood for the fire several times which helped keep us warm for the duration of our Christmas stay. We were gifted Cretan Olive Oil, fresh, wild Oregano herbs gathered from the local hills by Michail's father in law as well as a lovely bottle of his house red wine! Delicious! The location can't be beat if you are into being outside the city in a comfortable, peaceful setting with stunning views of the White Mountains as well as the Agean. The outside veranda is perfect for taking in these marvelous views. Breathe a deep breath of fresh air and tranquility at Lithari. A vehicle is a must have and I would absolutely recommend you rent a car to enjoy this place! You can drive in any direction in search of small towns, tavernas, hiking, gorges etc. descending and ascending the hills all the way. Chania is about a 20-30 min drive away and is amazing to spend time at as well. We visited the area of Therisso, for example, which was about a 30 min drive away and is a beautiful gorge complete with many amazing dining options which are frequented by the locals; especially on Sunday afternoon! The hospitality is unbeatable. Yum! The house is unique, charming, and has all the amenities you could need. It is large enough for multiple couples or even groups. The wood stove was a favourite of ours. I would highly recommend Lithari to everyone! We will absolutely stay here again if we are back in the Chania area! Thanks Michail & family!”
