The house is located on a canal directly off of the St. Johns River with excellent fishing and springs near by for swimming and great family fun. . You’ll love the home because of the location, the views, it is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
“Great place, this is our second stay, & we enjoyed it as much as last time!👍 My only minor suggestions would be darker window coverings for the bedrooms & a tv in the second bedroom. Hosts are very friendly & most accommodating!”
Our adorable resort has something for everyone. Our Retreat offers a detached game room with pool table. There is great fishing right off the dock. It is only a short drive by boat or car to beautiful springs, restaurants and bars. Close to Daytona and Orlando! Wildlife galore. The paddle boat has been replaced with two tandem Kayaks available for you to use
“We spent NYE 2010 here. We had a large group of 12 with kids and adults in the mix. We loved our stay here as it was exactly what we were looking for...A getaway with a house on the lake with peaceful and quiet surroundings. The kayaks given were an awesome treat as well. We enjoyed Ziplining at the canyons, rented a pontoon boat to the springs and ate a lot of local seafood and Gator (YEAH BABY!). It is a great house to host a lot of ppl and the way everything is laid out it still maintains privacy for all parties.”
Welcome to our comfortable cottage overlooking a deep canal leading to St. John's River. Experience small town Florida in a laid back atmosphere reminiscent of the 1950s. View manatees in nearby springs, hike forest trails, visit nearby attractions, tie your boat to our dock, grill a steak, shoot pool, go fishing, swim & snorkel, kayak spring runs, climb a lighthouse, read a book, watch the sunset, sleep late, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of Astor.
“We rented the cottage for an entire month and had a great time. Ron and Ann are very welcoming and pleasant people. They were there when you needed them but certainly respected our privacy. The cottage had everything you may possible need; pots, pans, all kinds of utensils, salt/pepper, lots of towels and sheets, cleaning stuff, vacuum cleaner etc. We had some cooler days, but there are 2 electric heaters in the cottage which heat up the place pretty quick. Air conditioning was also working very good and all the rooms had ceiling fans. There are 2 golden retrievers in the back yard. Molly and Marley, very friendly dogs, who only pay attention to you when you're snacking something on the back porch. :) We spent most of our mornings on the back porch overlooking the canal. That was very peaceful, watching all the different birds, turtles and the occasional small fishing boat going by. The direct area is kind of quiet. I think it's mostly older people, retired or snowbirds, living there, what we liked. We had our car to visit neighbor towns and the beautiful springs in the area. The store in Barberville, where they sell all kinds of pottery and huge statues etc. is worth a visit and Deland is not that far, as well as Daytona and Ocala for shopping. Overall we had an awesome time and Ron and Ann's place is certainly recommendable!”
