Tonquin's Rest is a beautiful private suite in the upstairs of a 1903 Victorian home in Astoria's tranquil Uppertown neighborhood. The home is located in walking distance to Pier 39, the Astoria Riverwalk and hiking trails. It is a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive into downtown Astoria and a quick 25 minute drive to the beach. Watch the deer wander through the backyard as you drink your morning coffee on your private deck.
“Robin and Garrett are the kindest and most lovely hosts. The space is well appointed, very comfortable and remarkably clean. I loved the home’s history and location, particularly the proximity to the river walk where I enjoyed daily runs along side water foul, eagles, and sea lions. Garrett’s book of dining and activity recommendations was very useful and helpful when exploring Astoria’s offerings. Robin was available when needed, and both were very respectful of privacy. After our days of chilly hikes, the soaking tub was much appreciated! Taking my morning coffee on the back porch watching hummingbirds and listening to the rain are some of my favorite moments of this stay. No question, when we return to Astoria, I wouldn’t considering staying anywhere else.”
Wrap up in a kimono, sip a cup of tea, and drink in majestic views of the Columbia River Basin. Step into the ochre, claw-foot bathtub for a relaxing soak with handmade bath products, then curl up in the comfy grey armchair on yellow checkerboard floors.
“Perched atop a hill on a dead end street, this stay in beautiful Astoria is not to be missed. With complimentary Fort George beers on arrival, a beautifully appointed space to spread out, sauna, deep clawfoot tub, and panorama views of the Columbia River you will not be disappointed. Oh and you'll find The Goonies on DVD.”
My home is a 1948 post war tract home, simple in design yet very comfy. Located near the top of a densely forested hill approximately 1.5 miles from historic downtown Astoria, an occasional ship horn and sea lions barking in the distance adds a certain ambiance to this otherwise peaceful and quiet neighborhood. Ample off street parking is available on an oversized double cement driveway with easy access to home entrance.
“This place was amazing!!LuAnn and her darling dachshund, Chance, were the best hosts. The house is cozy and spotless. The bed was very comfortable. We had everything we could want or need. This is a very beautiful part of Oregon. There is much to see and do. Put Astoria and LuAnne at the top of your list. You’ll be glad you did!”
