The property is located in the idyllic village of Barrington, eight miles from the historic University City of Cambridge. The village has the longest village green in the country and a historic Norman church, a regular wedding venue in the summer months. Ideally located to take advantage of Cambridge, Newmarket, The Imperial War Museum, Duxford, Grantchester, the National Trust stately home at Wimpole and easy access to London, with regular fast trains to London Kings Cross.
“The Potting Shed is a delightful place to stay! The rooms are cosy and characterful - with beams showing - while also offering all mod cons (even a Nespresso machine in the well presented kitchen area). It's right on the edge of the beautiful village of Barrington (with the longest village green in England and a 16th century pub serving great food), a quick drive or train journey from Cambridge. As it's tucked away down a farm track it feels slightly more remote than it really is. The views onto fields and wildlife often emerging along the treeline next to the track also add to the sense of calm and serenity - we saw loads of pheasants as well as a kestrel and a muntjac! We didn't meet the host, but she was very helpful guiding us in over the phone and extremely responsive to any questions we had. All the essentials were all provided, such as bread, milk, butter, jam, porridge, tea, coffee, etc. but if you need anything else the village shop is close enough to walk to. We also ordered a takeaway delivery through Just Eat - another sign that you're not as remote as you might think! We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area!”
“Great hostess who makes it easy for you to stay in her home. We felt immediately at home and are also very well informed about the area and how to get to certain places. Great stay !!!”
My place is close to Cambridge (5 miles from the city centre). The Hornet's Nest, at Jays Cottage, is the perfect accommodation for anyone visiting or working in Cambridge or it's southern villages.. You’ll love my place because of it's location and it's self-contained as well as beautifully and freshly decorated. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. Please note the hot tub depicted in the one of the pictures is not available to guests.
“A great space, really close to Cambridge, bus stop literally right outside if you wanted to use public transport. In a very quiet village so a totally undisturbed nights sleep. Very comfortable with a great kitchenette that is perfect for prepping a simple breakfast (cereal / bread / coffee / tea / juice etc were all supplied). I would recommend.”
