Welcome to my lovely Victorian house in historic Colchester. The house and your room has everything needed for a comfortable stay, located within easy walking distance of the University, and the town centre with cinema, theatre, leisure centre, pubs, restaurants, park, castle, train, bus station (National Express). Free parking. Convenience stores and recreation ground around the corner; nearby supermarkets. Beaches, zoo, beauty spots nearby. London 50 minutes by train. Long term stays welcome.
“Jennie's house is an especially lovely place and she is an amazing host! The location is brilliant and you can walk everywhere within minutes. The room is lovely, cosy, welcoming, and very clean, as well as the rest of the house. Jennie is a super fun person to live with, kind and caring, and she is very forthcoming. Everything to master your everyday life is there and if not, Jennie is always happy to help - also with all sort of advice. Her dedication goes far beyond a regular host, and she feels responsible for your well-being, in and out the house. I can highly recommend her place to everyone, who is looking for the best experience in lovely Colchester!”
The Barn Annex is next door to Tunmer's Farm where we live with our three dogs. The Farm is situated in the Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and overlooks the unspoiled Stour valley and cattle grazing in the water meadows. There is no public transport, but good taxis. Colchester and Ipswich are 8 miles away for shopping, as is the charming market town of Hadleigh. This quiet spot is the perfect place to relax and explore the countryside and the culture that Suffolk offers.
“Such a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, peace and quiet. The view from the lounge doors across the valley is perfect, with beautiful Dedham Vale on the doorstep. Elizabeth is a very caring host and I felt looked after. Really hoping to come back again.”
Self contained log cabin comprising kitchen, shower room and bedsit. Located in 'Constable country' on the Essex/Suffolk borders.
“I stayed here for two nights with my grandson and dog. The hut was lovely and warm, two panel heaters on the walls and two fan heaters in the living area for added heat, plus a fan heater in the bathroom. Lots of hot water and a good powerful shower. The WiFi is good and the TV large. We spent our time dog walking, relaxing and walked to the Swan pub where we had a lovely meal in the dog friendly restaurant with a real fire. Tony lives with his extended family he is a lovely guy . You are close to the A12 ( not in sight )but we didn’t notice any noise as the hut has double glazing. The hut is in his very large garden , it’s near to the house but unlike one reviewer we were not disturbed by dogs barking or any other noise. We arrived to bacon, eggs, tea coffee, milk etc which was very welcome. My grandson loved the mezzanine with the double bed, thanks Tony for your exceptional hospitality.”
