“10 out of 10 on unique accommodation! You have to see this! It is well signposted en route to the farm, and about 5-7 minutes walk from the parking lot. We were there in February and got a little muddy road to birdbox but when you get to the top the trip is worth it. It's small and compact, but you have a lovely bed and a view you will NEVER forget! Water and candles were clear, as well as countless blankets to keep us warm. We had read beforehand that the birdbox can feel cold so we had good clothes, but there are enough blankets to dress in and just enjoy! The host answered us immediately with questions and was keen to have a good time. Even with a stormy night (which was a bit boring when you have to go out to the other house to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night) where we heard all the gusts and thunderstorms - the experience was something we would never have been without. The storm itself just made it exciting. In the house next door you have a toilet and the opportunity to make coffee. We had a great morning the following day. Seeing Norway wake up to the sun and light in the morning is magical! And you get it here! I took my husband on a surprise trip here and it was very well received. Highly recommended!”
The lodge is idyllically situated at Djupedal Lake, Bringeland in Bygstad with a view to the west towards the Storehesten mountain.
“Went there as a couple with a snow-loving 4months old pup, and had a truly great stay. Per is an excellent host, and the cabin and the surrounding area is just great for hiking and skiing. We only tried cross country skiing this time, but there are a few nice mountains nearby that looked nice for randonee as well if that's your game. We would love to come back and explore more of the area :) The cabin offers a lot of space, and has all the amenitites you need.”
Rytne is an authentic farm house from the 17th Century, restored with care for comfortable cooking, sleeping and living. The view is spectacular, located on the foot of the mountain Storehesten (1209 m.a.s.l.). Rytne is the perfect Base Camp for hiking in the mountains nearby.
“Ridden Farm fulfilled all our expectations, and more than that. When we got to the cabin at dusk, it was burning up in the stove in the living room, and the host Mari met us and gave us a tour dotted with some historical details about the house. The bedroom was in what had once been the cowshed, but now was an exceptionally cozy room with made beds. In the morning the sun shone into the room, and you got a fantastic view over the whole village. The entire cottage was characterized by thoughtful and elaborate details that united old peasant romantic aesthetics with modern comfort. On the living room there are pictures of Astrup and old King portraits on the timber walls. The kitchen was well equipped and convenient. The bathroom was new and modern and is located in a separate little house. The rider is located just below the Big Horse, and provided a good starting point for hiking up the mountain. The hot tub right outside is highly recommended, it was washed and fired by the host, and we were allowed to sit in a steamy bath under the starry sky with light drizzle. Thanks for your stay and the chance to experience Rytne!”
