Our island weathered 2 category 5 hurricanes September 2017 and we have had an amazing recovery. If you have any questions about the condition of the island and our home please ask. Our house is located 5 minutes from Cruz Bay. This room has parking, private entrance, private bath, and private porch, to enjoy the view. We have a courtyard with a swimming pool and outdoor kitchen that you are welcome to use. There is a Ford Escape available with the room for $50 per day.
“I was supposed to go to St. John with a group of friends in early June but when everyone backed out due to the CV-19 pandemic I was unsure what to do. But when I found out that the USVI would be opening back up on the first of June I decided to keep my plane reservation and luckily I chose Hawk’s Rest for my stay. Donna and Kevin were superb hosts and the room they let to me was just perfect. The view from the balcony is exquisite and being able to wake up every morning with a cup of coffee while taking in the view high above the water was invigorating. In addition, one of the best decisions I made was to rent the SUV from them and use it to explore the island. I’d give Hawk’s Rest (as well as the hosts) six stars out of five if I could.”
Sailors Cottage is located on a knoll overlooking Coral Bay Harbor out to Norman Island and beyond. Private, but a 5 minute drive to restaurants in Coral Bay, 20 minutes to the pristine National Park beaches. The pool is private with a spacious pool deck, lounge chairs, comfortable seating and a picnic table for family barbecues. It’s the perfect place for morning coffee, sunset cocktails and star gazing. Or a relaxing day playing in the pool. The bedrooms have A/C for a great night’s sleep
“This cottage was amazing. First of all, you will definitely need a Jeep or a similar vehicle to get to and from the house. Kim was waiting for us right as we came into town to show us the way which was great. She showed us around the house before showing us around town (pointing from the pool deck) because the view is of coral bay! The view almost kept us from exploring the rest of the island the a few days. It’s that good. There are two markets close by that have whatever may need for the house. She had two coolers that we used daily for packed food and drinks plus four beach chairs. There are a few restaurants in town that are all worth trying. Also, Lucy’s for brunch on sundays just south of the cottage was a group favorite. The sleeping situation was ideal for a couple and two singles or a family of four. The rooms stayed very cold throughout the night. I couldn’t tell you whether or not the tv works, the pool view was good enough for us. I could rave about this place for days. And I will write another review after we stay here again. And again.”
Lovely Cottage with 180 degrees of white water views. You can see and hear the crashing waves below. A/C, Private , Romantic with a gorgeous outdoor shower, this is a totally separate living space from the art studio where I live and work. My water is totally UV filtered so buying water is not necessary! I am available for any needs you may have and will help you get the most out of your St. John experience. I provide a romantic welcome dinner on your arrival night.
“Our stay in the cottage exceeded our expectations. A stunning view, a comfortable and clean space, and remarkable setting. Catherine’s friendly and welcoming approach - including meeting us at the ferry and a delicious welcome dinner - was excellent and made the transition to vacation that much smoother. She had helpful tips and suggestions for places to go and live music during our stay, but was not intrusive. The cottage is also well-maintained and very clean, with backup solar power (which is great given that the main power went out a couple times), and we loved sitting on the porch with the sunrise and coffee until we went off on our activities. We’d also follow her recommendation to take the passenger ferry and rent a Jeep on St. John. Far more convenient and less expensive than renting on St Thomas / car ferry, which we did on a prior trip. We’d recommend her spot without reservation, other than a word to the wise - many steps on the stairs down from the parking spot. Not a big deal unless you have trouble with stairs.”
