The original character and the Cretan traditional architecture have been preserved and taken under serious consideration during renovation. The village is a great base to explore a lot of outstanding places and beaches such as Plakias (25 minutes away by car), Damnoni, Moni Preveli, Rodakino, Frangokastello, Hora Sfakion and Rethimno. At the bottom of the ravine is a very old stone fountain with trees. The houses are masterfully built of stone on the successive levels of the two hills thus providing a beautiful traditional settlement. The view to the opposite villages are impressive. The flora is especially rich in herbs and medicinal herbs such as oregano, thyme and labdanum.
