Welcome to the West Wing! We live in an old villa on 2 acres of lawn and garden. Near the main house but not attached to it we have our guest house. We have decorated it in keeping with it’s history but with all modern conveniences including Sky TV. We have a comfy king bed in the studio part with a double bed upstairs in the gorgeous retro attic. The upstairs bed is suitable for a smaller couple or a teenager. We have a lovely, well equipped kitchen. We provide a good continental breakfast.
“As everyone has written before, the little touches are just outstanding! Thanks Trev and Lynda! We felt they had really thought of everything. The choice of 2 comfy beds, electric blankets if needed. Wonderful projection screen to relax and watch a movie. Great shower! Superb breakfast! And we cant forget kasey the dog who waits patiently at the door in hope someone will throw her the tennis ball. Great weekend away!”

“I stayed at Kakariki Cottage for 14 days, self-isolating after getting out of the UK and back to my home country during the escalation of the Covid-19 crisis in late March 2020. I couldn't have picked a better spot to de-stress and spend two weeks. Little touches made all the difference, like some ginger crunch (iconic NZ cake) in the fridge, immaculate bathroom and a super cosy bed on the inside, and sitting out on the deck in the sun meeting the occasional wandering sheep and watching native birds flitting through the trees, on the outside. Even the odd bit of rain was enjoyable when inside such a great little cottage, and night-times were so peaceful; despite the lure of the big TV I would often step out on the deck to look at the stars and listen to distant Ruru (native owls). I also got to know Nathan, Courtney and their neighbours, chatting over the fence from a safe distance, so it certainly didn't feel like 'isolation'. If the weather is good and you have sturdy walking shoes, ask about going for a wander around the farm and pocket of native bush, especially if you're a keen photographer. I didn't get beyond some walking around the local country roads, but I do know from previous experience living near this area that the farmers market and waterfalls etc as recommended by the notes in the accommodation are well worth a visit. One day I hope that some friends from the UK will visit me in NZ and I can send them to Kakariki Cottage too.”

“My partner and i were stuck in a sticky situation during the Level 3 lockdown period so we were so very grateful to have stayed in Brent + Stephs self contained unit for 4 nights. They were amazing friendly hosts. Made quick communication, so understanding of our situation and went out of their way to make sure we felt comfortable and well accomodated! The photos and description dont do their home justice. The ensuite shower and bathroom was lovely and convenient. There were spare blankets and towels for our use. The room was nice and warm as the heater warmed up the room before we checked in. There was a tv attached to the wall that you could move around to fit your preferred view. The room was very cosy, private and seperate from the house. Loved our stay and would definately come again!”
