The place has a central geographical location in West Finnmark. It is a 1 to 2 hour drive to Nordkapp, Honningsvåg, Alta, Hammerfest, Havøysund, Lakselv and Karasjok. Smörfjord has nice hiking areas with good fishing waters and moorland. There is also the possibility to fish in the sea from jetty and mountain. In autumn and winter there is the possibility to see northern lights.
