A small one-room cabin with loft sleeping area on beautiful Cape Rosier. A comfortable space, while still a work in progress. Located a 2 minute walk from our shorefront on Horseshoe Cove, one of the most beautiful coves in Maine according to the Cruising Guide to New England---it opens out to the islands of East Penobscot Bay. Solar boat-type shower. Wood stove for cool evenings. Swim off our pocket beach or dock. Great hiking. The best part is you can do it all without getting in your car.
“On the way to Arcadia we decided to do a dry run and drive to his place before we came back at night.. Glad we did because it may have been a little trickier driving at night but Waze was pretty accurate. Kel and Sher live a short distance away so when we called to check-in he met us shortly after to show us where everything was. He was kind enough to give us some tips and suggestions for local places to eat or things to do. Remember some places close early, some are closed on certain dates. If you use Yelp be sure to call before going somewhere to double check they are open. Sometimes, Yelp shows its open but when you call you find out it is close. It's a very cozy cabin and was clean. Be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp if you have to use the outhouse at night or walk your dog, if you have one.”
The house is spacious and bright and surrounded by hills of blueberries, ready for picking in July and August. Guests can enjoy two lovely bedrooms, bath and a very large living room with t.v., microwave, fridge, toaster oven, coffee maker. The best part is a wide window seat with an amazing Bay view. They are invited to sit on the wraparound porch and use the hot tub. The front door spills right into the door to the apartment upstairs. The property is very peaceful and private.
“We had a lovely time staying with Polly and Don. The property is magnificent. It was such a great part of our Maine experience, staying at their farm. We were welcomed to their home at the same time as their annual barn party, so we had double the experience! Polly and Don cooked us breakfast for the 2 mornings we were there and set up a little area for us to eat before we ventured out for the day. You can count on delicious fresh-baked breads and fruit salads. We stayed there to be close to Acadia. It’s a little over an hour drive there. We would probably stay closer to the park as the hour drive adds up each way, but regardless it was a great part of our trip. Thank you Polly and Don!”
This is a one of a kind waterfront home situated in Harborside, Maine. If you appreciate nature in its purest form, gazing at the endless bright stars, and the fresh breeze of the ocean air coming in your bedroom window, this is truly the perfect place for you and your family. With easy access to places for hiking, kayaking, swimming or just relaxing, it is the perfect spot for a get-away for those who are looking for a seasonal home experience without the fussiness of fancy/new accommodations.
“Sara’s house is true to the description: beautiful location, quiet surroundings, nestled in a beautiful natural setting, rustic family farmhouse perfectly situated on Cape Rosier. The house was clean, full of fun things for our family to do on the quiet Maine nights, and the view off the deck is to die for. The whole four days we were there maybe two cars passed by on the road. The house instructions and local tips were accurate and helpful. Best not to expect to swim in the pond behind the house (a former mine site), but several lovely swimmable ocean beaches very nearby.”
