As we walk, we will hear of how the Port of Southampton today operates, where, and what Cruises operate from these busy Piers. We will visit Mayflower Park, the site of the Mayflower ship's last docking before sailing to America. We will walk the start of the QE2 Mile, hearing of that modern famous ships connection to Southampton. We will then see the secret location of the White Star Line's office, where the bereaved waited news of the Titanic's Fate. And finally to Oxford Street, home to all the things Titanic. We will speak and see of all the surprises of the Titanic hiding in plain sight of Modern Southampton. • Guided off-road Cycle ride
I will meet you at the meeting place. We will have a planned route on approved New Forest cycle tracks that will take in some lovely views and maybe a few deer. I will bring limited mechanical backup and can take care of punctures and small issues with your bike if any occur. The tourist cycle maps are not always clear and the routes don't all join up. When I'm out on my bike I often see people at junctions on the gravel tracks looking at maps or people that have accidentally found themselves on very busy roads. I can take those worries away allowing you to relax and take in the lovely surroundings. The route will be relatively easy with a very few tough hills. The surfaces are mostly gravel and nothing that is very technical. It's impossible to completely avoid roads but this will be kept to a minimum and preference for quite roads are the order of the day. Other things to note This cycle ride is for you at your pace. It's hard to plan scenic routes just from maps. I'm here to do that for you and to ensure you won't get lost or accidentally end up on a main road. I will provide some basic breakdown and puncture cover. You can relax and enjoy your ride. If you don't have your own bike you can economically hire mountain bikes from local centres that can be found on the internet. We can also provide accommodation through Air BnB at Ridge Cottage

After meeting at Jubilee Car Park Brighstone, we will kit up and head across the islands chalk trails, through Freshwater Golf Course towards Tennison Down and the Needles. The ride will go past the burial mounds and Mottistone Down with its views across the English Channel and the New Forest. Once at Needles Battery we will stop for refreshments before the return journey. Other things to note I shall be carrying tools, puncture repair kit and chain tool as well as a first aid kit. Guests are responsible to ensure their bike is in good working order, they are carrying a spare inner tube and that they have their own helmet and any other safely kit they need or require as well as snacks.

  • Guided wildlife photography walk
I will take you off the beaten track and away from busy tourist areas in the New Forest and show you hidden gems. You will learn about the natural habitat and what animals, plants and fungi can be found there. You will learn how to photograph the wildlife with minimal disturbance so that you get better more relaxed subjects and we can work on different techniques used to photograph smaller subjects such as flowers and fungi. I can provide as much photography help or learning as you need and as time will allow or show you what you are looking for and let you photograph them in your own way. We will meet at your accommodation or a prearranged starting point and the length of the walk can be tailored to suit your needs but generally the terrain is not difficult. Timing can be by mutual arrangement and I am not averse to pre-dawn starts for those special photos of red deer stags in the mist. Other things to note I can cater for any level of photography from the beginner to those looking for that competition winning entry. What we look for will be dependant on the time of year and local weather variations. The Guided Photography Walk can be arranged for any time of day but early morning or evening are best. We can also provide accommodation through Air BnB at Ridge Cottage https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/38690771?source_impression_id=p3_1625403308_xD9ebAhlkyOJ6Wzc&guests=1&adults=1
